Where it collects
The bumper, the mirrors, and the leading edge of the hood take the hits. Schertz and Fort Sam Houston commuters see it every week. Exterior detailing softens the bugs and the tar, then washes them off. Scraping first cuts the clear coat.
Tar on the lower doors is the same family of problem. It is not a reason to polish the whole car.
When it becomes a paint job
If someone already scraped the bugs, the scratches are in the clear. That is paint correction, after the film is gone. Read swirl marks if the cobwebs showed up after a tunnel wash.
A full detail is the right visit only when the cabin is due too. Bugs alone are an exterior visit.
Book it
Call (210) 201-4847 and say how long the bugs have been baked on. The studio is 11692 Bricken Circle, San Antonio, TX 78233. Deposit is 20% of the quoted total.
Why a bug smear becomes a scratch
I-35 and 1604 bugs, plus tar dots on the lower panels, are bonded film. They sit on the nose and the rockers of trucks that commute through the northeast side. Scraping them with a card or a dry towel cuts the clear coat around the spot. The studio softens the film, then washes, then looks at what remains.
A shadow that stays after the film is gone is not more soap. It may be a light etch, and polish is a different service from the wash. We will say which one you are looking at before more work is added. This is not a mobile stop in a parking lot.
Describe the vehicle and whether the front clip or the rockers are the complaint. Call (210) 201-4847. The studio is 11692 Bricken Circle, San Antonio, TX 78233. Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Monday is closed. Twenty percent of the quoted total, non-refundable if you cancel, holds the appointment. Mention whether the dots are on the nose, the rockers, or both so the time matches the panels. The front clip of a highway truck is usually the panel that needs the dwell, not the roof. Soften the spot first. Do not pick it off with a fingernail. Lower panels and the nose are different time.
