Where the cobwebs come from
A tunnel brush, a dusty wash mitt, and a dry towel across a dirty panel all cut the clear coat in circles. You see it in the sun on black, dark gray, and some reds. Converse and Universal City drivers who use the same tunnel every week see it sooner.
An exterior detail washes without adding a new set of marks. It does not erase the old ones. If the panel already looks cobwebbed, that is paint correction. The definition, separate from the service page, is what paint correction is.
What not to do next
Do not wax over the swirls and call it fixed. The difference is polishing versus waxing. Wax makes a shiny copy of the defect. Do not coat them either. A ceramic coating locks in whatever is underneath. Read correction before coating before you book protection.
A single careful wash after the correction keeps the new finish. Going straight back to a brush tunnel puts the cobwebs back.
How we look at it
Bring the vehicle to the studio at 11692 Bricken Circle in 78233. We look at the paint in the light, not from a photo taken in a garage. If the clear is thin, we will not chase a show finish. Call (210) 201-4847. The 20% deposit of the quoted total holds the slot.
What a tunnel leaves behind
Cobweb swirls that show up after a tunnel wash are in the clear coat, not on it. Another wash will not remove them. Wax makes a shiny cobweb. Correction can improve them only where the clear is thick enough, and a test spot is how we show the limit before a full panel is polished.
The prevention on the next visit is a hand wash that lifts grit before the mitt, not a softer brush at the same tunnel. If you want a coating later, the swirls should be addressed first or they stay visible under the product.
Call (210) 201-4847 and describe the color. Dark paint shows this first. The studio is 11692 Bricken Circle, 78233. Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Monday is closed. The deposit is 20% of the quoted total. If the swirls showed up the week after a tunnel wash, that timing is useful to say when you call. Another tunnel wash will not remove swirls that are already in the clear coat.
