The variables that matter
A coating installed on clean, stable paint and washed with a clean mitt will outlast the same product smeared over contamination and then ignored. Sun in a Windcrest or Converse driveway is harder than a garage in the same ZIP code. Hard water that dries on the panel will spot a coating if you let it. None of those are fine print. They are the lifespan. We will not promise a five-year or ten-year result to win the booking. We will tell you what the product is for, what prep we are doing, and what you have to do afterward. If a shop’s only answer is a big number of years, ask who washes the car in year three.
What shortens it
Drive-through brushes, dry wiping, leaving bug guts and droppings to bake, and parking under a sprinkler will age any protection. Coating is more durable than wax. It is not immune. If you want the long end of the range, wash it, keep a drying towel that is actually clean, and do not treat the front clip as disposable because “it’s coated.” Thin or failing clear coat is a different clock. Coating does not stop paint that is already dying. Correction has a stop-point for the same reason. If we think the panel is a bad candidate, we will say so before the deposit is the thing we argue about.
What you can do
Follow the cure window. Wash sooner than you think during pollen season. Come back for a maintenance detail when the film returns instead of waiting until the coating looks like bare, neglected paint. Maintenance is cheaper than pretending the install made the climate optional. The install is ceramic coating services at the studio. Washing is how to wash a coated car.
