Why it sticks
Pollen lands, dew wets it, and the sun bakes a film. Live Oak and the streets around Rolling Oaks Mall get a heavy coat. A dry towel turns that dust into fine scratches. Rinse first. A two-bucket wash is enough for a fresh layer.
If the film has been there through a few rains, an exterior detail lifts what a driveway rinse leaves in the edges, the mirrors, and the lower panels.
What it is not
Pollen is not etched water spots and it is not swirl marks. Do not book paint correction just because the hood looks dusty. If the paint was already cobwebbed, the pollen only made it easier to see. Those are separate problems.
A coated car still collects pollen. The coating makes the wash easier. It does not cancel spring. Read how long a coating lasts.
After the bloom
Wash when the dust is thick, not every morning. A maintenance visit after the worst of the bloom is enough for most drivers. The studio is in 78233. Call (210) 201-4847. Twenty percent of the quoted total holds the slot.
Pollen is a calendar, not a failed detail
Yellow dust on a northeast-side hood in spring is mostly oak pollen. It is not harmless if you wipe it dry, and it is not a reason to polish the car every April. A gentle wash lifts it. A dry towel grinds it. Two days after a careful wash, a car parked under oaks will look dusty again. That is the season.
If the paint feels rough after the pollen is rinsed, the grit may be more than pollen, and decontamination is the next question. Clay every week is not the plan. A maintenance wash is.
Call (210) 201-4847 if the hood is filmed under the yellow dust, not just dusty. Studio at 11692 Bricken Circle. Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Monday is closed. Twenty percent of the quoted total holds the slot. If you wiped the hood dry under the trees, tell us. Those marks are a different conversation from the yellow dust. Two days under an oak, the hood can look dusty again. That is the season, not a failed wash. Dry-wiping yellow dust is how a spring wash turns into swirls.
