Where the spots come from
San Antonio water leaves minerals. On a cool morning those minerals sit in droplets. By midafternoon the droplet is gone and the mineral is bonded. Cars parked outside in Windcrest, Converse, and along the 78233 streets show it first on the hood, the roof, and the glass. The same minerals on the windshield are windshield film and wiper grime. Dark paint makes the spots obvious. Silver paint hides them until you stand at the right angle.
A dry towel makes it worse. You are grinding the mineral and adding swirls. That is how a water-spot complaint becomes a paint correction complaint. Deposits versus etching is explained in water spots on car paint.
What an exterior detail can do
Exterior detailing washes the panel, then uses the right chemical dwell for bonded minerals, then clays what is still stuck, then protects the clean paint. Fresh spots often release. Spots that have etched into the clear coat do not. Those need polish, and polish is a different service. We will not call a wash a correction.
If the cabin is also due, the full detail is the combined visit. Coating comes later, after the spots are gone. Coating over etched spots locks them in. Read correction before coating before you book protection.
How to slow the next set
Dry the vehicle after sprinklers hit it, or park out of the spray. A coated car still spots if hard water dries on it. The coating makes the wash easier. It does not cancel the sun. Drivers near Rolling Oaks Mall who leave a car in an open apartment lot see the same pattern.
