What you are seeing
Highway film, sap mist, and the smear a dry blade leaves sit on the outside of the glass. Exterior detailing cleans the glass, the cowl edge, and the grime under the blade. The inside of the glass, the haze you see when the defroster hits, is part of an in-shop interior cleaning.
Hard water spots on glass are the same minerals as spots on the paint. Fresh ones lift. Etched ones may stay as a faint mark.
What a detail will not fix
A torn wiper blade will haze a clean windshield on the next drive. Replace the blade. Pitting in the glass from sand stays. We do not replace windshields. A yellow headlight is a different problem, covered in hazy headlights.
If the paint on the hood is filmed the same way, it is one exterior visit, not a glass-only stop.

If the blade chatters on a clean windshield, the blade is the remaining problem, not another wash. Pitted glass stays pitted. We clean film. We do not replace the windshield. Outside film is an exterior visit. Inside haze is an interior or full detail. Replace a torn blade or the smear comes back.
