Deposits versus etching
A droplet that dries leaves minerals behind. This page does not claim a hardness number for San Antonio water. Any water that dries on a hot panel can leave a ring.
A deposit often looks raised and may change when washed. An etch looks like a ring in the clear coat after the surface is clean. The two can sit together. That shadow is a paint-condition problem, in the same family as the defects in what paint correction involves.
Wash first, then stop
If the spots appeared after a recent rinse, wash with a clean mitt and dry. The routine is how to wash a ceramic-coated car. Stop if the rings remain or if you want to scrub. Do not start with a household acid or a rubbing compound.
The local note on sprinkler spots is hard water spots on San Antonio paint.
Cleaning is not correction
Exterior detailing is the controlled wash and decontamination. Paint correction is the conversation only after inspection shows a mark the clear coat can spare. Some etched spots should be left. The same limit is when a scratch is too deep to polish.
Do not coat etched paint to seal the spots in. Protection will not hide a crater. The comparison is ceramic coating versus wax.
Book an assessment
There is no named water-spot package. Ask for an exterior assessment if spots remain after a gentle wash, if the car is already coated, or if a household cleaner changed the gloss. The shop will say whether the visit is a wash, a correction test, or a recommendation to leave the mark.

Deposits versus etching
Mineral deposits from sprinklers and hard water can often be lifted with the right dwell during an exterior detail. Etching that has eaten the clear coat does not wash off. Polish is the next service, and only if the clear allows it. A dry towel turns either problem into swirls.
A coating makes the next wash easier. It does not cancel spots if hard water dries in the afternoon sun. Park out of the sprinkler or dry the panel. We will not call a wash a correction.
